RF Engineer / 5G Network Optimization Lead / SME
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Ericsson 5G Optimizer with extensive experience in 5G and LTE network performance optimization. This role requires a subject matter expert (SME) in Radio Network Planning and Optimization (NPO) with deep technical knowledge of Ericsson equipment, signaling procedures, drive test analysis, and KPI improvement strategies. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with post-processing and data visualization tools and demonstrate strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform advanced 5G/4G RAN optimization on Ericsson networks with strong focus on NSA, SA, ENDC, and VoNR performance improvements.
Analyze end-to-end call flows and signaling procedures to identify and resolve accessibility, retainability, mobility, and throughput issues across 5G architectures.
Optimize critical KPIs including call setup success rate, throughput, drop rate, handover success, latency, VoLTE/VoNR quality, and user experience metrics.
Troubleshoot and tune advanced 5G features including Carrier Aggregation (CA), Massive MIMO, Beamforming, mmWave, and Network Slicing technologies.
Utilize drive test and post-processing tools such as TEMS Investigation, TEMS Pocket, and Actix to analyze mobility failures, overshooting sectors, pilot pollution, and coverage imbalance.
Implement intelligent RF parameter tuning including A5 thresholds, IntraSearchRx, ThreshXHigh, reselection priorities, mobility offsets, and footprint optimization strategies.
Recommend and execute optimization solutions beyond basic tilt changes, including CRS gain adjustments, neighbor optimization, footprint shaping, and coverage balancing.
Support Ericsson eNB/gNB integration, feature validation, parameter audits, and troubleshooting activities across LTE and 5G networks.
Develop KPI dashboards, trend analysis, and executive-level reporting using Tableau, Power BI, and Ericsson MCPC tools.
Lead optimization activities, mentor junior engineers, and interface directly with customer technical teams to drive network performance improvements and issue resolution.
Required Experience
7+ years of hands-on Ericsson RAN optimization experience including LTE/5G parameter tuning, KPI analysis, and eNB/gNB troubleshooting.
3+ years of direct 5G optimization experience supporting NSA and SA network architectures.
Strong understanding of 3GPP-defined 5G deployment options, ENDC functionality, and mobility management concepts.
Proven experience optimizing VoLTE/VoNR performance including TTI bundling, handover tuning, routing optimization, and coverage-related troubleshooting.
Hands-on experience with Ericsson MCPC, TEMS Investigation, TEMS Pocket, Actix, Tableau, and Power BI.
