Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Automation Engineer to support and enhance enterprise mainframe automation infrastructure. This role requires strong mainframe infrastructure knowledge, automation scripting, and troubleshooting skills, with a particular emphasis on REXX scripting.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience developing, maintaining, and debugging mainframe automation solutions, along with a solid understanding of IPL processes and mainframe infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and enhance automation solutions within the mainframe environment.
Write, modify, troubleshoot, and debug REXX scripts.
Support and improve existing mainframe automation infrastructure.
Troubleshoot automation issues across scripts, systems, and infrastructure.
Support IPL (Initial Program Load) activities and related automation processes.
Work with both legacy and emerging automation technologies.
Collaborate with mainframe infrastructure, operations, and engineering teams.
Identify opportunities to improve automation, reliability, and operational efficiency.
Maintain technical documentation for automation processes, scripts, and system configurations.
Required Qualifications
Strong experience with mainframe automation and infrastructure.
Hands-on REXX scripting experience.
Ability to develop, debug, and maintain automation scripts.
Strong understanding of IPL processes and mainframe infrastructure.
Experience troubleshooting complex mainframe automation issues.
Ability to work independently in a highly technical mainframe environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Broadcom OPS/MVS.
Experience with IBM System Automation, BMC automation tools, or similar mainframe automation platforms.
GDPS experience.
Ansible experience.
Experience working with both legacy and modern automation technologies.
