Engineering Manager

Role Description The Engineering Manager will oversee a distributed engineering team, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback while ensuring alignment with academic and institutional goals. This part-time, remote role involves planning and managing software and integration projects, defining technical roadmaps, and coordinating cross-functional collaboration with educators, administrators, and other stakeholders. The Engineering Manager will review and refine engineering solutions, support the design and implementation of software systems, and ensure that projects are delivered on time and within quality standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting remote stand-ups and review meetings, tracking progress against milestones, resolving technical and organizational blockers, and promoting best practices in engineering and project management. The role also includes contributing to process improvements, documentation standards, and fostering a culture of inclusivity, innovation, and continuous learning.

Candidates should possess Software Development and Integration skills to review technical solutions, support architectural decisions, and ensure robust system interoperability.
Candidates should possess Project Management skills to plan work, manage timelines, coordinate stakeholders, and oversee project delivery.
Candidates should possess effective communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work remotely across diverse teams and time zones.
Candidates should ideally have experience in higher education or edtech environments, with familiarity in modern engineering practices and agile methodologies.
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field is preferred, along with prior experience in a managerial or lead engineering role.
