Skills and Competencies
Strong knowledge of financial statement analysis, including the ability to review, adjust, and interpret reported financial data in accordance with relevant methodology requirements
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel (pivot tables, lookups, and similar functions)
Solid understanding of accounting concepts and their application to credit analysis and issuer financial reporting
Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and work independently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to clearly explain data, adjustments, and analytical findings to internal stakeholders
Fully proficient in English, with the ability to effectively participate in calls, meetings, and written communications
Ability to quickly adapt as priorities shift to meet evolving business needs
Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, with curiosity and enthusiasm for learning how AI tools can be used to improve processes and drive efficiency. Interest in exploring AI systems and a willingness to develop awareness of responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use
Education
B.A. or B.S. degree required; specializations in Business Management, Public Administration, Accounting, or Finance preferred
1–2 years of prior experience analyzing financial documents and applying accounting knowledge is a plus
Responsibilities
The Financial Data Analyst plays a key role in the ratings and research process by analyzing issuer financial documents, adjusting reported data, and supporting analysts with accurate and timely financial information.
Apply accounting and finance knowledge to perform financial statement analysis, adjust reported data per relevant methodology requirements, and review and analyze financial ratios
Review and interpret financial statements, official statements, and other issuer documents to assess financial performance
Collaborate directly with ratings and support analysts to communicate data findings, adjustments, and other relevant financial information
Partner with accounting specialists to understand and apply accounting concepts to specific entities and reporting situations
Build and maintain documentation and provide mentorship and guidance to support analysts and outsourcing partners
Review, adjust, and publish financial data for external market participants in a timely and accurate manner
Contribute to special projects such as technology initiatives, accounting standard changes, analytic reviews, methodology updates, and operational improvement efforts
Participate in training sessions and knowledge transfer activities with analysts to support ongoing professional development and career growth
