The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Director of International Student and Scholar Compliance, UNLV Global Education [R0153521]
ROLE of the POSITION
Reporting to the Senior Executive Director of UNLV Global (Sr Executive Director), the Director of International Student and Scholar Compliance (Director) is responsible for the oversight of international student and scholar services and the leadership of the international student and scholar advising team. The Director works collaboratively with university offices including the colleges, academic advising units, admissions, registrar, human resources, and student affairs to optimize our international students and scholars' experiences and promote UNLV's international mission.
The Director is tasked with facilitating the arrival and regulatory compliance of scholars and students at UNLV. The Director also processes student and scholar immigration requests and coordinates permanent residency petitions with an outside attorney. The director is responsible for oversight of the student and scholar services of the department, including implementing policies and business practices for the efficient hiring and retention of international faculty/staff in terms of federal regulations and university policies, and proactively improving and/or updating scholar services as regulatory changes occur. The Director is the authorized signatory for UNLV-sponsored immigration petitions, including those filed with outside immigration counsel. The Director oversees the client services function of the Office of International Student & Scholar Compliance including supervising front-line staff, student assistants, and assists in the international student services efforts in recruiting, retaining, and graduating international students. They provide support and regulatory compliance oversight to the staff who manage all immigration processing and SEVIS reporting, including the DSOs in Admissions The Director must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident in order to comply with the Department of Homeland Security and Department of State regulations. Finally, the Director leads special projects assigned by the Sr Executive Director and has authority over ISSC functions in the Sr Executive Director’s absence. The Director encompasses the Rebel Way in all their interactions with the UNLV community and beyond and in doing so demonstrates UNLV’s values and propels the UNLV Global vision.
