Structures (CAE) Engineer

MTC is a pivotal part of Multimatic Engineering, delivering advanced design, simulation, and testing services to clients including Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s), automotive suppliers, motorsports organizations, and more. A variety of specialized tools, equipment, and software support the many talented engineers developing effective product solutions.The Analysis Department at MTC is currently seeking a Structures (CAE) Engineer. Note that this position is not remote-based; the candidate needs to work onsite at our Markham location. Collaboration among our teams is key for success.Duties and Responsibilities:As a Structures Engineer, constructing FEA models, performing simulations, recommending design improvements, performing engineering calculations, reviewing requirements and specifications, and preparing reports are among the daily tasks in developing our components, assemblies and full vehicles. The successful candidate will be required to work closely with other members of the team as well as other departments, particularly design engineering and testing. Your input to improve our performance understanding will help transform early concepts into viable production designs. You will also be interfacing with our manufacturing division partners and OEM customers.As our product offerings have grown and the complexity of them increased, the Analysis team has needed to learn and adapt in support. Adopting new software tools, accounting for additional physics behaviors and material characteristics will likely be in your future.Education and Experience:
University degree in a relevant engineering discipline (i.e. mechanical, mechatronics, or automotive engineering)
Experience level open: new grads to experienced engineers (1 - 8+ years). Compensation level based on experience
Mechanical/mechatronics/systems analysis (CAE) experience (automotive preferred)
Good knowledge of the finite element method and its application to the analysis of mechanical systems
Experience with commercial FEA tools. Proficiency with Hyperworks, ABAQUS, LS-DYNA, OptiStruct, and nCode are an asset.
Experience using multi-body kinematics and dynamics packages (e.g. ADAMS, MotionView, etc.) is an asset but not required
High level of interest in automotive engineering
Good written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
Effective problem-solving skills
Hold current passport and be able to travel as/ when required

This job posting is for an existing vacancy. The total cash compensation range for this position is expected to be:
$57,658.00 - $107,000.00
