Electrical Engineer – Protection & Control

Working Model: 100% remote until site active, will be going into office 4 days per week once site is active - Mid 2027
Candidates need to be local so on-site work can be attended once live
Working Hours: 9am - 5pm
Travel: Domestic, 50%, possible travel to Canada - Once site is live
Within first year, travel will be closer to 70% - 80% while remote
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Must Have
· University degree or College diploma in Electrical Engineering
· 7 years working experience in relay testing and creation of setting files for Multi-Function Relays
· Strong knowledge of power systems, protection schemes and communication applications
· Experience in creation of test procedure and maintenance procedure related to factory and site testing and commissioning protection panel.
· Experience in programming the GE Multilin family of relays, specifically the UR Family
· Excellent understanding of theoretical bases for all major protection principles including Distance, Line Differential, Transformer Differential, Bus, Feeder, Generator and Large Motor protection.
· Demonstrated team player, initiative to take the lead and mentoring of other members of the team.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in a multicultural environment.
Nice To Have
· Experience in turn-key Protection and Control projects Demonstrated record in developing protection and control applications Working knowledge of major test sets and short-circuit / setting coordination software
· Working knowledge of RTDS, ASPEN, EMTP, SKM, ETAP and MATLAB
· Familiarity with standard work and documentation procedures of electrical utilities
· Interdisciplinary experience including metering, communications, substation automation and integration
· Knowledge and experience with GE Digital Energy and 3rd Party Protection Relay products
· P.Eng Certified is an asset
