Location: Newport News, VA
Schedule: Sunday–Thursday | 11:00 AM–7:00 PM
Position Type: PRN
Compensation: $18.00–$20.00 per hour

Pyramid Healthcare's Newport News Detox and Residential Treatment Center provides comprehensive, evidence-based care for individuals recovering from substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Our medically supervised detox and structured residential programs support clients throughout their recovery journey through individualized treatment, life-skills development, and supportive services.
Position Summary
The Intake Coordinator plays an important role on the admissions team and serves as a key point of contact for incoming clients. This position helps ensure a smooth, supportive, and compliant admissions and discharge process by coordinating documentation, assessments, communication, and insurance-related requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Facilitate and complete admission paperwork and verify required documentation, including identification and insurance information.
Coordinate with nursing and clinical staff throughout the admissions process.
Conduct level-of-care assessments and complete required documentation, including PCPC and ASAM assessments.
Manage insurance-related processes, including precertification and communication related to utilization review.
Assist clients with Medical Assistance applications and coordinate with external partners as needed.
Communicate with probation/parole officers and employers when appropriate consent has been obtained.
Manage client photographs and ensure all required documentation is accurate and complete.
Coordinate discharge planning, including outpatient appointments and support services.
Conduct prescreens by phone and in person, enter information into the EHR, and schedule assessments.
Maintain client confidentiality and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and organizational standards.
Complete required training and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous experience working with behavioral health or substance use populations preferred.
Familiarity with insurance authorization processes and intake procedures is a plus.
Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced treatment environment.
