About the Opportunity:
The SENIOR LINUX SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR role is responsible for independently designing, managing, and supporting complex Linux systems that underpin academic applications and student information services. This position provides technical leadership on infrastructure automation, security, large-scale system implementations, and operational reliability. It also involves mentoring junior staff and ensuring high availability and security in critical systems.
Responsibilities:
Administer and maintain Linux operating systems, including updates, performance monitoring, and security.
Apply security best practices through automation, vulnerability management, and compliance enforcement.
Configure and manage Linux servers and virtual machines across various platforms.
Ensure high availability, clustering, and failover for supported services.
Manage user access controls and system permissions.
Support student information system infrastructure through installation, patching, tuning, and decommissioning.
Advance infrastructure automation using tools like Ansible and AI-driven security enhancements.
Standardize deployment workflows to improve consistency and lifecycle management.
Lead and participate in projects, provide mentorship, and direct technical work.
Requirements:
Associate’s degree in computer science or related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum 10 years of direct Linux system administration experience.
Strong Linux administration skills, including scripting and automation with Ansible.
Knowledge of backup, recovery, networking, identity management, load balancing, DNS, DHCP, and hardware.
Effective communication and customer support abilities.
Ability to manage complex technical priorities independently and collaboratively.
Experience in project management and staff mentoring.
Legal authorization to work full-time in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or related field.
Experience supporting enterprise-level academic or student information systems.
Familiarity with Azure, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Ellucian Banner applications.
Experience with AI-assisted operations or security tools.
Pay Range and Compensation Package:
