Job Description:
This recruitment will be used to fill 20 part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Precollege Student Outreach Assistant for the Department of Precollege Programs at Oregon State University (OSU).
Students will support a range of outreach activities designed to introduce youth to Oregon State University. These activities include campus tours, STEM activities, Q and A panels, and more.
Students will work with a great team of Outreach Assistants to support Precollege Programs while developing your own skills in public speaking, communication, leadership, teamwork, equity and inclusion.
Position Duties:
Lead campus tours for visiting students, share your own story and encourage young people to consider attending college.
Work with others to develop curriculum, maintain social media, and organize materials.
Build professionalism through communication and office skills.

Qualifications:

Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Students should be self-directed and motivated to adapt to changing circumstances
Must be flexible to do a variety of tasks that may arise

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with youth
Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in youth education fields
Effectively communicate STEM subjects with K-12 students, teachers and faculty
Bilingual skills a plus
Working Conditions/Schedule:Job occurs on Oregon State campus in Corvallis. Requires a lot of walking around campus. Must be able to lift and carry 30lbs. Duties also include office work.
