Biomedical Research Data Analyst - R and Statistics

About the Role
This is a biomedical data and research role for candidates with a biomedical/life sciences background and hands-on experience using R/RStudio.
We are specifically looking for candidates with a degree or postgraduate qualification in Biomedical Sciences, Biology, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Biotechnology, Public Health, or a related life sciences field, combined with practical experience analysing biological, clinical, healthcare or research datasets using R/RStudio.
Candidates without a relevant biomedical/life sciences background or without practical R/RStudio experience will not be considered.
You will combine biological/healthcare knowledge with statistical data analysis, contributing to research and strategic projects across rare diseases, haematological disorders and other areas of healthcare.
You should be comfortable using R/RStudio for:
Data cleaning and manipulation
Statistical analysis
Data visualisation
Statistical modelling
Developing and working with analysis pipelines
Interpreting and communicating analytical results
You will work with researchers, clinical teams, academic collaborators and data partners across research-focused projects.
Key Responsibilities
Designing and contributing to statistical analysis pipelines using R/RStudio
Cleaning, analysing and visualising biological, clinical and healthcare datasets
Applying appropriate statistical methods and interpreting results
Supporting research teams with analysis, protocols, publications and reports
Drafting scientific and research proposals, including grant applications
Supporting data partnerships, agreements and ethics documentation
Preparing research presentations and internal/external decks
Coordinating with researchers, clinical teams and academic collaborators
Communicating research and analytical findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Essential Skills & Experience
Degree or postgraduate qualification in Biomedical Sciences, Biology, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Biotechnology, Public Health, Life Sciences or a closely related field
2+ years of hands-on R/RStudio experience
2+ years of statistical data analysis experience
Experience working with biological, clinical, healthcare or research datasets
Strong understanding of statistical analysis and interpretation
Experience with data cleaning, manipulation and visualisation in R
Ability to independently develop and work with R-based analysis pipelines
Strong scientific and technical writing skills
Strong attention to detail and ownership
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Desirable Skills
Clinical research or digital health experience
Genomics, epidemiology or patient-generated data experience
Python
Grant or funding proposal writing
Academic publications
Experience working with clinical or academic stakeholders
Keynote / research presentation experience
Important Before Applying
This role is specifically for candidates with both:
1. A biomedical/life sciences academic background
AND
2. Practical, hands-on experience using R/RStudio for statistical or research data analysis
General business analysts, commercial data analysts, or candidates without a relevant biomedical/life sciences background will not be considered for this position.
