Lead Full-Stack Engineer

We are currently looking for a Senior Lead Full-Stack / AI Engineer to take a key role in scoping, architecting, and building an ambitious AI-powered product. The role combines technical leadership, product thinking, AI expertise, and hands-on full-stack development.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the initial technical scoping and discovery phase with key stakeholders.
Translate product requirements and broader product vision into a clear, technically feasible implementation plan.
Assess technical feasibility, architectural approaches, implementation options, and trade-offs.
Present technical conclusions and recommendations following the initial scoping phase.
Lead and contribute hands-on to the implementation of the agreed product scope.
Build full-stack functionality using TypeScript, React, and Node.js.
Apply modern AI technologies, LLMs, and AI coding tools throughout the product and engineering workflow.
Help define the architecture and technical foundations for a product expected to evolve substantially over time.
Plan and structure engineering work and coordinate with relevant stakeholders.
Assess the resources required to deliver the product, including the need for additional engineering or product-management support.
Participate in interviewing and selecting additional engineers when required.
Help establish strong engineering practices, development processes, and technical standards for the team.
Take ownership of technical decisions and delivery outcomes.
Balance product requirements, technical feasibility, development effort, and long-term scalability.
Requirements:
Significant commercial experience as a Senior or Lead Software Engineer.
Strong full-stack experience with JavaScript/TypeScript.
Strong hands-on experience with React.
Strong backend development experience with Node.js.
Deep practical knowledge of AI technologies and their application within software products.
Active experience using modern AI coding tools and AI-assisted development workflows.
Experience scoping technically complex or ambiguous products from an early stage.
Strong understanding of software architecture and technical design.
Ability to move comfortably between technical discovery, architecture, planning, and hands-on implementation.
Strong stakeholder-management and communication skills.
Ability to independently assess technical feasibility and communicate trade-offs clearly.
Experience leading technical delivery and taking ownership of outcomes.
Ability to work autonomously in a fast-moving product environment.
Entrepreneurial mindset and a pragmatic, hands-on approach to problem-solving.
Nice to have:
Experience working with Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI-powered product features.
Experience with AI agents or AI coding agents.
Experience building or launching MVPs from an early-stage product concept.
Experience interviewing, mentoring, or helping build engineering teams.
Experience working closely with founders, product leaders, or other senior stakeholders.
Experience in an early-stage startup or product environment.
Ability to travel to Munich regularly.
