Role Description
The Director of Accounting (Contractor) will oversee the company’s accounting function, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting for a growing coaching and consulting practice. This remote, contract role includes preparing and reviewing financial statements, maintaining general ledger integrity, and managing month-end and year-end close processes. The director will develop and refine accounting policies, support budgeting and forecasting activities, and provide financial analysis to guide strategic decisions. Responsibilities also include ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations, coordinating with tax and audit professionals as needed, and recommending process improvements to enhance efficiency and transparency. The role requires proactive communication with leadership to present financial insights and support long-term planning.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong technical accounting skills, including experience with Financial Statements and Financial Reporting.
Candidates should possess advanced Finance and Analytical Skills to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision-making.
Candidates should possess Certified Public Accounting (CPA) credentials or equivalent professional certification, or substantial relevant experience.
Candidates should possess proficiency with accounting software, spreadsheets, and financial analysis tools.
Relevant qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; experience in professional services, coaching, or consulting environments is beneficial.
Additional strengths include attention to detail, integrity, ability to work independently in a remote setting, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
Familiarity with U.S. GAAP, tax considerations for small businesses, and contract-based financial arrangements is an advantage.
