Vice President of Corporate Accounting
About the Role
The Vice President of Corporate Accounting will lead the company’s corporate accounting function, overseeing financial reporting, accounting operations, internal controls, accounting policies, and financial governance.
This executive will ensure the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of the company’s financial information while building scalable accounting processes and systems to support organizational growth. The role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, business judgment, leadership capability, and the ability to work effectively with executive leadership and external financial stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive leadership experience in corporate accounting, financial reporting, controllership, audit, finance, or a related function, with a proven record of managing complex accounting organizations and strengthening financial processes and controls.
What You’ll Do
Corporate Accounting Leadership
Lead the company’s corporate accounting function and overall accounting strategy.
Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, and related accounting operations.
Establish clear accounting policies, procedures, responsibilities, and performance standards.
Ensure accounting operations are scalable, efficient, and aligned with business requirements.
Financial Reporting
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and reporting processes.
Ensure accurate, timely, and consistent financial reporting for executive leadership and the Board.
Review financial statements, account reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation.
Strengthen reporting processes and improve the quality and reliability of financial information.
Accounting Policies & Technical Accounting
Establish and maintain corporate accounting policies and procedures.
Monitor accounting standards and evaluate their impact on the organization.
Provide guidance on complex accounting matters, transactions, and business initiatives.
Partner with Finance, Legal, Tax, and other functions on accounting implications of strategic decisions.
Internal Controls & Governance
Develop and maintain effective internal-control frameworks.
Strengthen accounting governance, documentation, approval processes, and financial controls.
Identify control weaknesses and implement appropriate remediation plans.
Support audit readiness and maintain strong standards of financial accountability.
Audit & External Stakeholder Management
Lead relationships with external auditors and coordinate annual audit activities.
Manage audit requests, technical inquiries, and financial documentation.
Partner with tax advisors, consultants, and other external financial professionals.
Ensure timely resolution of audit findings and accounting matters.
Accounting Systems & Process Improvement
Evaluate and improve accounting systems, processes, workflows, and reporting capabilities.
Drive automation and standardization across accounting operations.
Establish appropriate accounting data and reporting controls.
Lead initiatives that improve efficiency, accuracy, scalability, and close-cycle performance.
Accounting Organization & Leadership
Build, lead, and develop a high-performing corporate accounting organization.
Establish organizational structures, responsibilities, objectives, and performance expectations.
Recruit, develop, and retain strong accounting and controllership talent.
Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, integrity, continuous improvement, and professional excellence.
Qualifications
Extensive leadership experience in corporate accounting, financial reporting, controllership, audit, finance, or a related function.
Proven ability to lead complex accounting organizations and establish scalable accounting operations.
Strong understanding of financial reporting, general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, close processes, and internal controls.
Demonstrated experience developing and implementing accounting policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.
Strong technical accounting and analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate complex transactions and business issues.
Proven ability to manage external audits and work effectively with auditors, advisors, and senior financial stakeholders.
Experience improving accounting systems, processes, automation, and reporting infrastructure.
Proven ability to build, lead, and develop high-performing accounting teams.
Strong strategic thinking, business judgment, attention to detail, and operational leadership capabilities.
Excellent executive communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with Finance, Tax, Legal, Operations, Technology, and executive leadership.
Ability to balance technical accounting requirements with broader business objectives and operational needs.
CPA certification strongly preferred; Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required, and an advanced degree is a plus.

Compensation Range
Base Salary: To be determined based on experience, qualifications, location, and overall compensation structure.
Additional compensation may include performance-based annual incentives, executive bonus opportunities, and/or equity-based compensation, depending on the overall compensation structure.
