About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Product Owner to join our Patriot Cybersecurity organization in Tewksbury, MA. This onsite role is pivotal in leading cybersecurity innovation and secure development across emerging software, hardware, and integrated system components within the Patriot system. As a key member of our team, you will spearhead efforts to modernize cybersecurity capabilities, conduct advanced assessment activities, and implement mitigation strategies to bolster Patriot’s resilience against evolving cyber threats. You will oversee a Scrum team, guiding Agile execution and delivering new cybersecurity features that align with strategic objectives. Reporting to the Chief Product Owner and the Cross Platform Team Lead, you will influence technical direction, security posture, and product roadmaps, contributing significantly to the modernization and enhancement of our cybersecurity infrastructure. This role requires a proactive, self-driven professional capable of managing complex projects with minimal oversight and collaborating across multiple disciplines to achieve mission-critical outcomes.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in a STEM field along with at least 8 years of relevant experience in cybersecurity, engineering, or technical product leadership. An active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance (Secret level) is mandatory prior to onboarding, and U.S. citizenship is required for eligibility. Deep expertise in cybersecurity fundamentals, compliance standards, and Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes (such as NIST SP 800 series) is essential. Hands-on experience with vulnerability assessments, ethical hacking, threat modeling, and remediation strategies is required, along with familiarity with cybersecurity guidelines from NSA (FIPS), DISA STIGs, and USCYBERCOM. Proficiency in configuring and managing Windows, RHEL, and network platforms like Cisco is necessary, as well as experience with cybersecurity tools such as Nessus, ACAS, OpenVAS, SCC, and STIG Viewer. Candidates should have demonstrated experience leading Agile teams, including defining user stories, acceptance criteria, and backlog management, as well as analyzing complex cybersecurity test results to inform decision-making.
Responsibilities
Serve as the Product Owner for one of the Scrum Teams within Patriot Cyber, leading product vision, strategy, and backlog management for emerging cybersecurity capabilities across software, hardware, and system components.
Conduct advanced penetration testing and ethical hacking activities, including threat modeling, attack surface analysis, exploitation, impact assessment, and system hardening recommendations.
Apply structured frameworks such as the Cyber Kill Chain and Ethical Hacking Phases to identify vulnerabilities, assess adversary techniques, and improve system security.
Perform vulnerability scanning, assessment, and prioritize risks, translating findings into actionable remediation plans and updating cybersecurity roadmaps accordingly.
Drive application security analysis and ensure security requirements are integrated into the development of new Patriot software components and modernization initiatives.
Collaborate with engineering teams and stakeholders to evaluate solutions, implement secure system enhancements, and ensure compliance with security standards.
Develop and maintain cybersecurity architecture artifacts, requirements, strategies, design documents, and security policies supporting modernization efforts.
Guide the preparation and refinement of RMF/ATO documentation, including SSP sections, POA&Ms, SAR inputs, PPSM entries, SBOM updates, and other contractual deliverables.
Partner closely with leadership to align product priorities, resolve cross-platform dependencies, and influence cybersecurity modernization strategies.
Investigate complex cybersecurity issues independently, gather technical data, perform detailed analysis, and recommend system-level improvements.
Communicate regularly with internal and external stakeholders to promote secure development practices, influence policies, and uphold cybersecurity standards.
