He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About this role
Reporting to the Team Leader - Water Networks Planning, you'll provide principal-level hydraulic modelling expertise, technical governance and mentoring across Watercare's water network planning function. You'll lead the application and interpretation of hydraulic models to support network planning, growth strategies, major developments, operational decision-making and capital investment planning.
This is an influential role where you'll work across the business, partnering with planners, engineers, operational teams, developers, consultants and key stakeholders to identify network constraints, assess future growth scenarios and develop investment solutions that support Auckland's future needs.
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you will:
Provide technical leadership, governance and quality assurance for hydraulic modelling across Watercare.
Lead complex hydraulic modelling assessments using InfoWorks WS Pro.
Review, validate and audit hydraulic models to support planning and investment decisions.
Develop and assess network growth, development and operational modelling scenarios.
Support servicing plans, asset management planning and capital investment programmes.
Provide modelling expertise for major developments, capacity assessments and infrastructure planning.
Mentor and develop hydraulic modellers while driving consistency and best practice across the organisation.
Build strong relationships across Watercare, the development community and industry partners.
Defend and justify modelling and servicing positions to internal and external parties
Ngā pūkenga e rapu nei mātou | About you
You'll be a recognised technical leader within the water industry, bringing significant experience in hydraulic modelling and water network planning together with the ability to influence strategic outcomes.
You'll ideally bring:
15+ years' experience in hydraulic modelling and/or water network planning.
Chartered Professional status.
Extensive experience working with large and complex water networks.
Expert knowledge of hydraulic modelling tools, particularly InfoWorks WS Pro.
Strong infrastructure planning, network design and operational experience.
Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
Proven leadership, mentoring and capability-building experience.
The ability to translate complex technical information into practical business decisions.
