About the company
FoundDigital DS Limited is an investment and advisory practice specialising in Energy, Cloud and Internet Infrastructures across Europe, Africa, Asia Pacific and Central/South America.
Our vision is to constructively augment the way in which the underpinning infrastructure of Digital World is sourced, integrated, delivered and operated.
This remit spans the energy strategy (PPAs and energy procurement strategy) associated with cloud scale deployments, the electrical transport systems (transmission, distribution and private wire grids) connecting them, the onsite electrical infrastructures (substations, switch-rooms, generation and storage), the technical real estate and supporting infrastructure systems of these IT estates and the optical networks connecting them.
Background on the role
FoundDigital DS is looking for a highly motivated Senior Power Systems Engineer, fluent in English and German, to support the development of our consultancy mandate in the Power and Energy space across our operational base.
In this role, you will work on high-level schematic system design, specification development, submittal review, design document review, management of design and build and ICP contractors, and participation in commissioning. You will work with existing standards and ensure they are executed and enhanced for each project. Additionally, you will form part of the team that evaluates designs and provide engineering analysis to support CapEx and OpEx balance assessment based on select design decisions.
As a Senior Power Systems Engineer for the business, you will play a key role in driving and supporting how and what we build for our customers. The role will require close coordination with other team members, specifically in the Data Centre and Fibre team. This individual will support a breadth of remits from management of substation design and delivery, private wires (PWs), Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), power generation and planning through to working with internal teams and customers to understand the requirements of an evolved power systems proposition for them and the business.
The ideal candidate will need to have a strong track record covering supplier, vendor and customer engagements together with requiring strong technical and commercial judgment. You will work closely with a small, agile team to find optimal solutions for customers and to support FoundDigital’s ongoing need for identification of investment opportunities in the power and energy infrastructures space.
FoundDigital DS has a very collaborative work environment with a strong ethos around delegated responsibility and as such you will need to assume responsibility to interface and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, customers and contractors. Additionally, the intention would be that you will work towards becoming the subject matter expert on all power related matters for our customers and to readily translate requirements to tangible solutions.
