Company Description
PortfolioFuture is an independent fund discovery and intelligence company focused on empirical research into ETFs and mutual funds. The organization helps investors and financial advisors evaluate portfolio alternatives, understand fund contributions, and assess relative performance and investable returns. For asset managers, PortfolioFuture connects independent fund research with portfolio and ownership intelligence to highlight credible competitive positions and distribution opportunities. Rankings, substitution analyses, and research conclusions are driven solely by data and methodology, not commercial relationships. The company is committed to giving better products a fair chance to compete and win.
Role Description
This remote UX Research Consultant internship role focuses on understanding and improving how investors, advisors, and asset managers engage with PortfolioFuture’s digital products and research outputs. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and conducting user interviews, surveys, and usability tests; synthesizing qualitative and quantitative insights; and translating findings into clear, actionable recommendations for product and design teams. The intern will help define user personas, map user journeys, and identify key pain points in workflows related to fund discovery, evaluation, and portfolio analysis. The role also involves collaborating with stakeholders to prioritize research questions, document insights, and support iterative design improvements. This is an internship position with flexible hours, designed for individuals who want hands-on experience in UX research within a data-driven financial technology context.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in UX research methods (e.g., user interviews, surveys, usability testing, concept testing) and the ability to select appropriate approaches for different research questions.
Skills in synthesizing research findings (e.g., affinity mapping, thematic analysis, journey mapping) and presenting clear insights to non-research stakeholders.
Comfort working with data (e.g., basic statistical understanding, interpreting behavioral metrics, analyzing survey results) to support evidence-based recommendations.
Ability to collaborate effectively with product managers, designers, and engineers, and to communicate user needs in a structured, concise way.
Familiarity or strong interest in financial markets, ETFs, mutual funds, or investment technology is highly beneficial.
Proficiency in common UX and collaboration tools (e.g., Figma or similar design tools, online survey platforms, remote testing tools, and document collaboration software).
Currently pursuing or recently completed studies in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Design, Information Science, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage time effectively, and handle multiple research tasks with attention to detail.
