Role Description The Vice President of Digital Engineering is a full-time, remote role responsible for leading the strategy, design, and delivery of Orcas Capital’s digital platforms and technology initiatives. This role oversees distributed engineering teams, sets technical direction, and ensures that software solutions align with business goals, regulatory requirements, and quality standards. Key day-to-day tasks include managing engineering roadmaps, prioritizing projects in coordination with product and business stakeholders, and driving best practices in software development, testing, and deployment. The Vice President will mentor engineering leaders, establish performance and reliability metrics, and implement processes that support secure, scalable, and maintainable digital products. The role also involves collaborating closely with senior leadership on digital innovation, resource planning, vendor and partner management, and continuous improvement of engineering operations.
Qualifications
Engineering Management and Team Leadership skills to guide, mentor, and scale high-performing, distributed engineering teams.
Software Development expertise, with experience in modern architectures, cloud-native systems, and secure development practices.
Project Management capabilities, including roadmap ownership, prioritization, risk management, and delivery within time and budget constraints.
Product Development skills to collaborate with product and business stakeholders on requirements, customer value, and iterative improvement.
Proven experience in senior or executive engineering leadership roles in digital or technology-driven organizations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on reliability, scalability, security, and regulatory compliance.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working across technical and non-technical teams in a remote environment.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; an advanced degree or equivalent experience is beneficial.
Experience with quality systems, audits, or regulated environments is a plus.
