Role Description The Director of Trading Systems Engineering is a full-time remote role responsible for leading the design, development, and optimization of XPAN’s trading platform and infrastructure. Day-to-day, this role oversees engineering teams building high-performance trading systems, including order book aggregation, arbitrage engines, and AMM components, ensuring reliability, scalability, and low-latency execution. The director collaborates closely with product, trading, and quantitative teams to translate trading strategies and business requirements into robust technical solutions, while defining architecture standards, coding guidelines, and best practices. This position involves monitoring system performance in live markets, driving continuous improvement in risk controls and resilience, and managing the roadmap for trading features and integrations with centralized exchanges. The director also mentors engineering staff, contributes to hiring decisions, and helps shape long-term technology strategy for the XPAN Protocol.
Qualifications
Strong understanding of Trading, Trading Strategies, and Hedging, with experience implementing these concepts in automated or algorithmic trading systems.
Solid foundation in Finance, including market microstructure, order types, liquidity, and risk management in digital asset or traditional markets.
Ability to collaborate with Sales and business stakeholders to align trading system capabilities with client needs and market opportunities.
Extensive experience leading engineering teams building high-performance, distributed trading platforms, ideally in crypto, fintech, or capital markets.
Proficiency in modern programming languages commonly used in trading systems (e.g., C++, Rust, Go, or Java) and experience with microservices and cloud-native architectures.
Demonstrated expertise in low-latency systems, performance tuning, and monitoring for real-time trading environments.
Experience integrating with centralized exchanges via APIs, FIX, or similar protocols, including connectivity, data ingestion, and order routing.
Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with a track record of mentoring diverse engineering teams.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
