Role Description The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Xpan will lead the overall technology vision and execution for the XPAN Protocol and related products in a full-time, remote capacity. This role is responsible for defining and driving the technical roadmap, overseeing software development and architecture, and ensuring the scalability, security, and reliability of the platform. The CTO will work closely with product, operations, and leadership teams to align technology initiatives with business goals, prioritize features, and manage technical resources. Day-to-day activities include guiding engineering teams, establishing best practices, reviewing system designs, managing vendor and partner relationships, and staying current with blockchain, trading, and infrastructure trends. The CTO will also play a key role in hiring, mentoring, and developing a high-performing technology organization.
Qualifications
Strong background in Software Development and Product Development, with experience building and shipping complex, high-availability platforms.
Proven experience in IT Strategy and Architecture, including designing scalable, secure, and resilient systems for financial or trading environments.
Demonstrated Project Management skills, with the ability to plan, prioritize, and deliver technology initiatives across distributed teams.
Deep understanding of blockchain technologies, trading systems, order book aggregation, and AMM concepts.
Experience leading remote engineering teams, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
Proficiency with modern cloud infrastructure, DevOps practices, and security standards relevant to fintech and blockchain.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Prior experience in a senior technology leadership role (e.g., VP Engineering, CTO) within blockchain, fintech, or high-growth startups is highly beneficial.
