Role Description The Senior Database Administrator will oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of critical database systems that support Jaibwallet-محفظة جيب’s digital wallet operations. This part-time hybrid role is based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, with the flexibility to work remotely for part of the schedule. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing database performance and availability, monitoring and tuning queries, implementing backup and recovery strategies, and ensuring data integrity and security. The role also involves collaborating with engineering and product teams on database design, data modeling, and capacity planning, as well as troubleshooting complex database issues and supporting production releases. The Senior Database Administrator will contribute to best practices, documentation, and continuous improvement of the data environment.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong skills in Database Administration and Databases for managing, monitoring, and securing production environments.
Candidates should possess expertise in Database Design and Data Modeling to support scalable, reliable, and high-performance applications.
Candidates should possess solid Analytical Skills to diagnose issues, optimize performance, and interpret data-related requirements.
Candidates should possess experience with relational database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle) and familiarity with NoSQL databases is beneficial.
Candidates should possess knowledge of backup and recovery, high availability, replication, and disaster recovery strategies.
Candidates should possess proficiency in SQL, scripting for automation, and using monitoring tools for performance analysis.
Candidates should possess strong communication and collaboration abilities to work with cross-functional technical and product teams.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience; experience in fintech or digital payments is an advantage.
