About the Role
Maintain accurate Society accounts, reconcile member and vendor balances, prepare financial reports, and provide documented accounting support for developer handover and financial-year closure.
Key Responsibilities
➤ Day-to-day accounting: Record receipts, payments, expenses and approved journal entries; maintain ledgers, vouchers and supporting documents in the designated accounting software.
➤ Maintenance billing and collections: Prepare maintenance bills using approved rates; record receipts against the correct flats; maintain member-wise dues, advances and credits; issue statements and coordinate payment follow-ups.
➤ Bank and fund reconciliation: Prepare bank reconciliations; track fixed deposits, interest, corpus, sinking funds and other Society funds; identify unexplained differences for review.
➤ Vendor accounting: Check invoices against contracts, approvals and service confirmations; maintain payable ageing, advances and deposits; prepare payment recommendations for authorised approval.
➤ Developer accounting handover: Collect trial balances, ledgers, bank statements, vouchers and schedules from the developer/outgoing accountant. Prepare reconciliations and identify missing records, disputed balances and potential developer/Society liabilities for professional review.
➤ Monthly reporting: Prepare the trial balance, receipts and payments summary, income and expenditure summary, member outstanding statement, vendor payable statement and fund position.
➤ Year-end and audit support: Prepare closing schedules, confirmations and supporting workings; assist the designated CA with finalisation and audit queries; record adjustments only after approval.
Compliance records and confidentiality: Maintain statutory payment records and provide data requested by the designated professionals. Preserve accounting backups, supporting evidence and confidential financial information.
Candidate requirements
➤ B.Com/M.Com or equivalent accounting qualification.
➤ Preferably 3–5 years’ accounting experience, including housing-society accounts.
➤ Working knowledge of Tally or similar accounting software and strong Excel skills.
➤ Experience in maintenance billing, bank reconciliation, fund accounting and audit support.
➤ Ability to explain balances clearly and follow up professionally with members and vendors.
