Role Description The Chief Accounting Officer is a full-time, remote role responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial reporting activities for Modern Transportation Services. This role manages the preparation, review, and integrity of financial statements, ensures compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations, and develops internal controls and accounting policies. The Chief Accounting Officer leads the accounting team, coordinates audits and regulatory filings, and partners with executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring cash flow and working capital, analyzing financial performance, optimizing financial processes and systems, and providing clear, data-driven insights to support operational and strategic decisions.
Qualifications
Strong technical accounting skills, including experience with Accounting principles and Certified Public Accounting (CPA) credentials or equivalent professional certification.
Expertise in Financial Statements and Financial Reporting, with a track record of producing accurate, timely, and compliant reports.
Broad Finance experience, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis.
Prior leadership experience managing accounting or finance teams, with the ability to mentor, develop, and lead in a remote environment.
Familiarity with transportation, logistics, or industrial sectors is beneficial, along with experience in mission-critical or high-compliance environments.
Proficiency with modern accounting and ERP systems, advanced Excel skills, and comfort with data and reporting tools.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; an advanced degree (e.g., MBA or Master’s in Accounting) is a plus.
Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a commitment to ethics and safety-focused culture.
