About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
Company Description DBByte is a modern data infrastructure platform focused on delivering speed, scale, and reliability for internet applications. The company provides object storage and global content delivery capabilities that help teams build fast and resilient products. Designed for performance at every layer, DBByte streamlines how data is stored, served, and scaled. This approach allows customers to reduce infrastructure complexity and remove bottlenecks, so they can innovate and ship features more quickly.
Role Description The Software Engineer III role at DBByte is a full-time remote position responsible for designing, building, and maintaining high-performance, distributed systems that power our data infrastructure platform. Day-to-day work includes implementing new features, optimizing existing services for speed and reliability, and collaborating with product and infrastructure teams to deliver scalable solutions. The role involves writing clean, maintainable code, conducting code reviews, improving observability and performance, and contributing to architectural decisions. The Software Engineer III also participates in troubleshooting production issues, refining deployment pipelines, and mentoring less experienced engineers to uphold engineering best practices.
Qualifications
Strong software engineering skills in one or more backend languages (e.g., Go, Java, Python, or Rust) and experience building distributed systems or cloud services.
Hands-on experience with data infrastructure tools and concepts such as object storage, content delivery networks (CDNs), caching, databases, and message queues.
Proficiency with modern development practices, including version control (Git), automated testing, continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), and code review workflows.
Knowledge of system design, performance optimization, scalability patterns, and reliability engineering in high-traffic, production environments.
Comfort working in remote, cross-functional teams, with strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience with major cloud providers (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Kubernetes) is strongly preferred.
Prior experience in a senior or mid-senior engineering role, including mentoring engineers and contributing to technical roadmap discussions, is a plus.
