Back End Developer Intern

Role Description This is a remote internship role for a Back End Developer Intern at Laneway. The intern will support the development and maintenance of server-side components, APIs, and databases that power web and digital products. Day-to-day tasks include writing clean and efficient code, implementing business logic, integrating front-end components, and participating in debugging and performance optimization. The intern will collaborate with consulting and technology teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions, assist in building MVP systems, and contribute to documentation and code reviews. This role offers exposure to modern development practices, startup environments, and technology-driven consulting projects.
Qualifications
Strong foundational skills in Programming and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
Hands-on experience or coursework in Back-End Web Development and general Software Development.
Basic understanding of Front-End Development to support integration and collaboration with front-end teams.
Familiarity with at least one server-side language (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript/Node.js, C#) and relational or NoSQL databases.
Ability to work remotely, manage time effectively, and collaborate in a distributed team environment.
Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills and attention to code quality, security, and performance.
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Interest in startups, business consulting, and building scalable digital products is highly beneficial.
