Application Architect

Role Details: Solution Architect - (EL1 Level)
Contract Duration: 08 months + 2X12 months (possible extension)
Work Location: All States (work 3 days from office and 2 days from home each week)
Eligibility: NV1 Security Clearance
Key duties and responsibilities
Solution Architects will be responsible for, but not limited to:
actively contribute to the review, development and/or sustainment of the agency’s application governance artefacts, including application strategies, architectures, technology roadmaps, policies, and practices.
undertake targeted review of existing application deployments both on premise and in-cloud, including assessment of documentation, sustainability, and alignment with agency application governance.
based on review findings, document identified issues, risks, and opportunities, together with associated actionable recommendations.
working directly with IT, business areas, application development teams, provide insight and assistance with the scoping, costing, planning and delivery of new application services.
Ensuring relevant technical strategies, policies, standards, and practices (including security) are applied correctly and consistently.
Evaluating requests for changes and deviations from specifications and recommending actions to delegates and governance bodies for endorsement/decision or other appropriate action.
Working as part of an Agile project/program team or business as usual area as directed.
Performing other duties as directed from time-to-time by Directors/Team Leaders or a delegate.

Government ICT Transformations
Essential criteria
1.• Demonstrated experience (5+ years) working as a Solution (Application) Architect
• Proven experience designing applications and solutions for cloud environments.
• Proven experience designing and documenting applications that meet business requirements and align with the Department's strategic vision and operational constraints.
• Well-developed communication skills, including the ability to distil technical information in Plain English to communicate with influence.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships, including the ability to translate clearly between technical teams and business areas.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to effectively manage risk and deliver fit-for-purpose applications and solutions.
