Engineering Lead (Full Stack)

Hanabi Technologies is a remote-first software company building and operating SaaS products and client platforms. We are hiring a hands-on Engineering Lead who can take end-to-end ownership of technical delivery while building a reliable team and operating system around the work.
This is not a coordination-only role. You will lead projects, solve the hardest engineering problems, manage releases and incidents, communicate clearly with clients, and help junior engineers deliver predictable, high-quality output.
What you will own
• End-to-end delivery across multiple active products and client projects, from requirements and architecture through release and maintenance
• Technical planning, estimation, sprint execution, capacity allocation, risk management and delivery dates
• Architecture and hands-on implementation of complex or high-risk work, while delegating well-scoped tasks to junior engineers and interns
• Production releases, rollback planning, monitoring, debugging and incident response
• Technical hiring, onboarding, mentoring, code review and performance feedback
• Clear client communication on scope, progress, risks, dependencies and timelines
• Current architecture documents, SOPs, runbooks and knowledge-transfer material so systems do not depend on one person
• Practical engineering standards for security, testing, maintainability and operational reliability
Our current environment
Our work includes React and React Native applications, Node.js backends, Python services, MongoDB, Google Cloud/GKE, CI/CD, OAuth integrations, MQTT/EMQX and payment integrations such as Stripe. You do not need to be an expert in every tool, but you must be able to learn unfamiliar systems quickly and lead them responsibly.
What we are looking for
• Strong full-stack engineering experience with production web or mobile systems
• Demonstrated ownership of projects beyond individual coding tasks
• Experience designing systems, reviewing code, debugging production issues and shipping safely
• Ability to turn unclear requirements into an executable plan with realistic milestones
• Experience mentoring developers or leading a small engineering team
• Strong written and spoken English for client and team communication
• A bias toward documentation, repeatable processes and early risk escalation
• Comfortable working remotely with high autonomy and accountability
Strong advantages
• Experience with Google Cloud, Kubernetes, MongoDB, MQTT/IoT systems, payments or OAuth/security reviews
• Experience managing client delivery or multiple concurrent projects
• Experience hiring and developing junior engineers
How we assess
The process will focus on evidence of ownership: a technical discussion, review of past delivery examples and a practical paid assessment or working session. We value sound judgment, communication and reliable execution as much as algorithmic ability.
