Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Power BI professional to design, develop, and maintain enterprise dashboards, reports, and analytical solutions while ensuring data quality, governance, security, and consistency across reporting environments.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI, Power BI Service, DAX, Power Query, SQL, data modelling, and dashboard performance optimization. The role also involves defining standardized KPIs, maintaining reusable semantic models, implementing reporting governance, and translating business requirements into actionable insights.
Experience with Microsoft Fabric, SAP integration, enterprise reporting, and automotive or EV business analytics will be an advantage.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, publish, and maintain dashboards, reports, and analytical solutions using Microsoft Power BI and Tableau.
Gather business requirements and translate them into reporting specifications, KPIs, data models, and visualization solutions.
Connect Power BI to enterprise data sources, including SAP, SQL databases, Excel, SharePoint, APIs, cloud platforms, and other business applications.
Extract, clean, transform, and combine data using Power Query and approved data-integration tools.
Develop accurate DAX measures, calculated columns, time-intelligence calculations, and business logic.
Build executive, operational, and analytical dashboards highlighting business performance, trends, risks, exceptions, and actionable insights.
Validate and reconcile dashboard results against source systems and approved business records before publication.
Develop and maintain business glossaries, data dictionaries, KPI catalogs, metadata records, and data-definition documentation.
Configure and manage Power BI workspaces, applications, deployment pipelines, and content lifecycle controls.
Implement role-based access, workspace permissions, Row-Level Security (RLS), and Object-Level Security (OLS), where required.
Configure scheduled refresh, incremental refresh, gateways, and data-source credentials.
Establish reporting standards, KPI definitions, business rules, ownership, stewardship, and certification processes.
Improve data quality, dashboard performance, reporting automation, user adoption, and analytical value.
Monitor workspace usage, audit logs, content endorsement, report adoption, and governance compliance.
Identify and eliminate duplicate reports, conflicting calculations, and uncontrolled semantic-model growth.
Troubleshoot refresh failures, data inconsistencies, calculation errors, performance issues, and source connectivity problems.
Conduct functional testing, data validation, security testing, regression testing, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
Collaborate with business stakeholders, data owners, application teams, architects, and cybersecurity teams.
Measure dashboard adoption, reporting effectiveness, and business-value realization.
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong hands-on expertise in Microsoft Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
Experience in dashboard design, report development, data visualization, and data storytelling.
Proficiency in DAX, Power Query, SQL, and semantic-model development.
Strong understanding of dimensional modelling, fact and dimension tables, star schemas, and data warehousing.
Experience integrating Power BI with SAP, SQL databases, Excel, SharePoint, APIs, and cloud data sources.
Knowledge of dataflows, shared semantic models, and reusable analytical components.
Understanding of Import, DirectQuery, Composite, and Live Connection models.
Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric analytics components, including OneLake, Lakehouse, Warehouse, and Semantic Models.
Experience managing workspaces, applications, deployment pipelines, scheduled refreshes, gateways, and incremental refresh.
Knowledge of RLS, OLS, workspace permissions, sensitivity labels, data-loss prevention, and secure data sharing.
Strong SQL querying, data cleansing, transformation, mapping, validation, and reconciliation skills.
Knowledge of data governance, data quality, data ownership, stewardship, metadata management, data classification, and lineage.
Ability to define and standardize KPIs, business rules, calculation methodologies, and reporting standards.
Understanding of tenant governance, workspace governance, audit logs, usage monitoring, and content certification.
Experience optimizing report performance, data models, refresh processes, and analytical queries.
Strong troubleshooting, analytical thinking, numerical accuracy, and attention to detail.
Ability to interpret complex datasets and communicate insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Strong requirements-gathering, stakeholder-management, documentation, and presentation skills.
Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Analytics, or a related discipline.
Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate or an equivalent current certification is strongly preferred.
Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Engineer, Azure Enterprise Data Analyst, or related Microsoft certifications are advantageous.
Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer certification is a plus.
Training or certification in data governance, data quality, master data management, or metadata management is preferred.
Training in SQL, dimensional modelling, data warehousing, Power Query, and DAX is beneficial.
DAMA, DCAM, COBIT, data visualization, business intelligence, Agile, Scrum, or business analysis certifications are advantageous.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience developing and governing enterprise-scale reporting and analytics solutions.
Ability to build reusable semantic models and promote controlled self-service analytics.
Experience implementing dashboard governance, data-quality controls, KPI standardization, and content lifecycle management.
Exposure to automotive or EV business KPIs across manufacturing, quality, engineering, supply chain, finance, sales, and aftersales.
Strong customer focus, communication skills, and a continuous-improvement mindset.
