Develop electronic architectures, circuit concepts, schematics, and hardware implementation strategies.
Design analog, digital, and mixed-signal electronic circuits according to project specifications.
Develop power management circuits, voltage regulation systems, signal conditioning circuits, and interface electronics.
Design and evaluate electronic circuits for sensors, actuators, controllers, communication devices, and monitoring systems.
Develop circuit designs that meet performance, reliability, safety, power consumption, and cost objectives.
Select appropriate electronic components based on electrical characteristics, operating conditions, availability, reliability, and lifecycle considerations.
Evaluate integrated circuits, microcontrollers, processors, memory devices, connectors, passive components, and power components.
Review component datasheets, application notes, reference designs, and manufacturer recommendations.
Perform component derating and tolerance analysis to ensure reliable operation under expected conditions.
Assess component obsolescence risks and identify suitable alternatives to maintain long-term product availability.
Develop complete electronic schematics using appropriate electronic design automation (EDA) tools.
Design printed circuit boards (PCBs) for prototypes, pilot production, and manufacturing release.
Define PCB stack-ups, layer configurations, routing constraints, grounding strategies, and power distribution requirements.
Apply design-for-manufacturability (DFM), design-for-assembly (DFA), and design-for-testability (DFT) principles.
Optimize PCB layouts for signal integrity, thermal performance, electromagnetic compatibility, and mechanical integration.
Review component placement, routing clearances, trace widths, via structures, and manufacturing constraints.
Assess high-speed signal paths and impedance requirements where applicable.
Develop grounding, shielding, filtering, and decoupling strategies to minimize noise and interference.
Evaluate electromagnetic interference (EMI) risks during circuit design and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
Design protection circuits for overvoltage, overcurrent, reverse polarity, electrostatic discharge, and other relevant electrical hazards.
Develop power supply and conversion circuits, including DC-DC converters, regulators, and battery management interfaces where required.
Evaluate power consumption, efficiency, heat dissipation, and operating margins for electronic assemblies.
Perform circuit calculations and simulations to validate design assumptions before hardware prototyping.
Use suitable simulation tools to evaluate analog behavior, transient response, frequency response, and other electrical characteristics.
Conduct tolerance analysis and sensitivity assessments to understand variations in component and circuit performance.
Design interfaces between electronic hardware, embedded controllers, communication modules, and external systems.
Support the development of electronic interfaces for Ethernet, USB, UART, SPI, I²C, CAN, and other relevant communication protocols.
Collaborate with firmware engineers to define hardware interfaces, pin assignments, peripheral requirements, and startup behavior.
Ensure electronic designs provide adequate diagnostic capabilities, test access, and system observability.
Evaluate sensor interfacing, signal acquisition, analog-to-digital conversion, and digital signal processing requirements where applicable.
Design electronic circuits for industrial monitoring, automation, control, instrumentation, and infrastructure applications as required.
Support the development of control electronics for motors, actuators, relays, switching devices, and other electromechanical systems.
Coordinate with mechanical engineering teams to ensure electronic assemblies fit within enclosure, mounting, thermal, and environmental constraints.
