The Role: Business Systems Developer- P&C insurance
Location: Remote
Type: Contract
What You'll Do:
Analyze insurance product requests and system incidents to determine feasibility, impact, and next steps.
Develop functional specifications and document user stories and technical requirements.
Conduct client interviews to capture business processes and design system solutions.
Collaborate with Business Systems Architects to assess the feasibility of product changes.
Develop code, tables and configure software that match designed approaches developed earlier in the software lifecycle.
Perform unit testing and ensure software adheres to BMIC change management procedures.
Design, document, and execute test cases, including automated and manual testing.
Identify, document, and manage remediation of system incidents discovered during testing.
Support delivery team activities, including planning, status reporting, and expectation management.
Assist with troubleshooting, customer support, and validation of production fixes.
Required Skills:
BA/BS degree in Computer Science required with at least 3-5 years' experience with business support operations in a property and casualty insurance setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Need experience with legacy or mainframe technologies.
Able to translate user stories and system specifications into technical specifications and test plans
Able to facilitate teams and lead decision-making processes in a collaborative environment
Working knowledge of Agile processes
Basic understanding of Azure DevOps (ADO) or similar tools
Ability to communicate well and make effective presentations
Experience writing functional specifications
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Understanding of Agile development
