About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
Internally we call this an AI Forward Engineer
The title says Senior Software Engineer because that is what the work is. The name we use inside the team is AI Forward Engineer, and it means something specific: an engineer who treats AI as the primary way they build, owns a problem from idea to production, and keeps pushing the product toward being AI native rather than waiting to be asked. If that is already how you work, read on.
About CXVERSE
CXVERSE is customer experience infrastructure for multi-location restaurant, retail and hospitality brands in the United States. CRM, loyalty, ordering, payments, engagement and AI, in one system.
The role
We are looking for engineers who build agentic systems and own how they behave in production.
The job is to take parts of this platform that work like software today and make them work like agents. You will decide what a capability should look like when something autonomous is calling it, build it end to end, and own whether it actually behaves in production.
What you will do
Design and ship agentic systems. Tool contracts, orchestration, retries, guardrails, and evals that catch behavioural regressions rather than just broken code
Find the parts of the product that should stop being features and start being agents, and make the case for them
Build with AI as your primary development tool. We expect fluency with agentic coding environments, and we care how it changed the way you architect
Review fast and review hard. Generation is cheap now, judgment is the constraint. You are accountable for every line you merge regardless of what wrote it
Drive the full lifecycle on your own work. Research, design, documentation, build, review, QA, release, instrumentation. Nobody writes your spec
Ship across the stack. Backend, data, API, frontend
What we need you to have
5+ years shipping production software that people depend on
Hands-on LLM application work in production. Tool calling, retrieval, orchestration, evals, and a clear account of what broke
Daily AI-assisted development at a level where it changed your architecture, not just your typing speed
Real range across the stack, demonstrated by things you shipped
Something you conceived and built yourself, start to finish
Why this role is worth your time
Scope. You own features end to end. There is no ticket queue, no handoff to a frontend team, and no product manager translating between you and the problem. If that sounds like more responsibility than you have been given before, that is the point.
Real agentic work, not a lab. You are building agents that run against live data for US brands. Very little of the agentic work available right now is in production with real consequences. This is.
Proximity. Small engineering team, direct access to the CTO and founders, and your technical arguments get heard rather than filtered through three layers.
