Design Engineer - NTTF

To design, develop, and implement tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures for sheet metal fabrication and welding operations, ensuring dimensional accuracy, production efficiency, and product quality.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures for sheet metal fabrication and welding applications.
Prepare 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or CATIA.
Develop welding fixtures for MIG and TIG welding operations.
Design fixtures for laser cutting, bending, punching, and fabrication processes.
Understand sheet metal drawings, GD&T, tolerances, and manufacturing specifications.
Coordinate with Production, Quality, and NPD teams to resolve tooling and fixture-related issues.
Conduct trials and validate tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures before production implementation.
Identify opportunities to improve productivity, dimensional accuracy, and ease of manufacturing.
Troubleshoot tooling problems and implement corrective actions.
Ensure designs meet customer requirements and manufacturing standards.
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of Tool & Die Design and Jigs & Fixtures Design.
Practical knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes.
Good understanding of MIG and TIG welding processes.
Knowledge of welding fixture design and locating/clamping mechanisms.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
Knowledge of GD&T, tolerances, and material specifications.
Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or CATIA.
Knowledge of laser cutting, CNC bending, and fabrication processes.
Educational Qualification
NTTF (Nettur Technical Training Foundation) qualification in Tool & Die Making, Tool Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
Experience
3–8 years of relevant experience in Tool & Die Design, Jigs & Fixtures Design, or sheet metal fabrication.
Experience in welding fixture design and heavy fabrication will be an added advantage.
Preferred Candidate
Candidates with an NTTF qualification and hands-on experience in tool design, jig and fixture development, sheet metal fabrication, and MIG/TIG welding processes are preferred.
