About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Telecom Platform Engineer to take technical ownership of our telecom platform, covering SIP signaling, media processing, call routing, and supporting services. Reporting to the Senior Principal Engineer, you will lead technical initiatives, mentor engineers, and contribute to architectural decisions while remaining hands-on with coding, troubleshooting, and production operations.
This role combines software engineering, telecom infrastructure, performance optimization, and production reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Own and enhance highly available SIP/VoIP infrastructure using Kamailio, RTPengine, and related telecom services.
Lead production incident triage and root-cause analysis across SIP signaling, RTP/media flows, NAT traversal, and carrier interoperability.
Develop and review Kamailio routing logic and supporting services using native scripting or KEMI.
Optimize signaling and media performance, scalability, and capacity as call volumes grow.
Collaborate with the SRE team to improve availability, monitoring, SIP capture, metrics, and alerting.
Design and execute SIP traffic, load, and capacity tests using SIPp or similar tools.
Lead and mentor Telecom Platform engineers and strengthen technical expertise across the team.
Contribute to architecture, reliability, and continuous improvement of the telecom platform.
Required Skills and Experience
Strong hands-on experience with production-grade SIP infrastructure using Kamailio or OpenSIPS, preferably Kamailio.
Solid understanding of SIP, RTP, VoIP, telecom networking, NAT traversal, and codec behavior.
Experience with SIP traffic generation, performance testing, and load testing using SIPp or equivalent tools.
Strong Linux administration and network troubleshooting skills.
Ability to develop and maintain Kamailio routing logic using native scripting or KEMI, along with supporting services.
Proven technical ownership, production troubleshooting, and architectural decision-making experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Hands-on experience with RTPengine, rtpproxy, or comparable media relay technologies.
Experience with SIP trunking and carrier integrations across multiple regions.
Familiarity with Asterisk or FreeSWITCH.
Experience with HOMER or similar SIP monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
Exposure to large-scale or multi-region telecom platforms.
Knowledge of NATS, Redis, or distributed messaging systems.
Exposure to real-time voice AI, media streaming, or speech processing pipelines.
Additional Requirements
Willingness to provide on-call availability for production escalations.
Ability to work from our Trivandrum office.
