Staff Infrastructure Software Engineer (Networking, Distributed Systems, Kubernetes, Control Plane) - 100% Remote
Optomi, in partnership with a leading transportation and logistics organization, is seeking a Staff Infrastructure Software Engineer to join a growing team that is building the next generation of its hybrid cloud infrastructure platform. This team is focused on modernizing legacy infrastructure while delivering cloud-like capabilities across compute, storage, and networking within private data centers.
The ideal candidate is a software engineer with deep networking expertise who understands how networking systems operate under the hood and can build the platforms, services, and automation that manage them at scale.
You will help design and develop networking infrastructure services, control planes, orchestration capabilities, and platform APIs that enable modern hybrid cloud operations.
Success in this role requires the ability to understand existing systems at a deep technical level, identify opportunities for modernization, and build scalable software solutions that improve reliability, automation, and operational efficiency.

Apply Today If Your Background Includes:
8+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on infrastructure systems or platform engineering
Deep expertise in networking concepts and architectures
Strong understanding of routing, network control planes, and network management planes
Experience building software systems within networking or infrastructure domains
Experience designing and developing distributed systems
Strong understanding of concurrency and multithreaded application design
Experience building APIs, services, or platforms that manage infrastructure at scale
Strong understanding of Linux-based systems
Experience with infrastructure orchestration and automation frameworks
Ability to analyze and modernize complex legacy infrastructure environments
Experience with Kubernetes networking and platform internals
Experience with software-defined networking (SDN)
Experience with service mesh technologies
Experience building control plane or orchestration software
Experience working in private cloud or cloud-native platform environments
Experience with network observability and performance monitoring systems
Experience with Go, Java, Python, Rust, or C++
Experience designing highly available and fault-tolerant distributed systems
