Chief Strategy Officer (CSO)
Company: YoshiTech
Employment Type: Full-Time | Remote
Department: Executive Leadership
Level: C-Suite Executive
Position Overview
YoshiTech is seeking an accomplished Chief Strategy Officer to help define the company's long-term direction, identify new business opportunities, and ensure that its strategic priorities translate into meaningful business results.
The Chief Strategy Officer will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, working closely with the CEO and other senior leaders to evaluate market opportunities, guide major business decisions, and establish a clear path for sustainable growth.
This role calls for an executive who understands the relationship between business strategy, financial performance, and operational execution. The successful candidate will be expected to assess the company's competitive position, identify opportunities for expansion, and determine how financial and organizational resources can be deployed most effectively.
We're looking for someone who has helped businesses navigate important periods of growth, transformation, or market change. This individual should be comfortable evaluating complex opportunities, challenging established assumptions, and making recommendations that carry significant financial and operational consequences.
The right candidate will bring the judgment to recognize which opportunities deserve investment, the discipline to assess risk, and the leadership experience to move major initiatives from planning into execution.
Key Responsibilities
Work directly with the CEO and executive leadership team to define corporate strategy, establish long-term priorities, and guide the company's strategic direction.
Lead enterprise-wide strategic planning, including market expansion, competitive positioning, business development, and organizational growth initiatives.
Evaluate emerging market opportunities, technology developments, competitive conditions, and potential new business models.
Partner with the CFO and Finance leadership to assess financial forecasts, operating performance, capital requirements, and long-term investment priorities.
Develop financial models and business cases to evaluate strategic investments, potential acquisitions, new business initiatives, and commercial partnerships.
Identify opportunities to strengthen revenue performance, improve operating margins, and increase the efficiency of capital allocation.
Oversee strategic assessments involving potential mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and other corporate development opportunities.
Collaborate with Product, Technology, and Operations leadership to ensure business capabilities and investment decisions support corporate objectives.
Evaluate major commercial agreements, strategic partnerships, and market-entry opportunities based on financial returns, competitive advantages, and execution requirements.
Establish clear performance measures to evaluate strategic initiatives, financial outcomes, and progress toward long-term business objectives.
Monitor industry trends, economic conditions, technology developments, and competitive activity that could influence business strategy.
Support executive discussions involving financing strategies, investment decisions, enterprise risk, and organizational development.
Work with business leaders to identify operational constraints, resource requirements, and organizational changes necessary to execute strategic priorities.
Prepare strategic recommendations, financial assessments, and executive presentations for the CEO, board of directors, and other authorized stakeholders.
Provide leadership and guidance to strategy and corporate development personnel while strengthening strategic planning practices across the organization.
Qualifications
18+ years of progressive experience in corporate strategy, executive management, corporate development, financial leadership, or related business functions.
At least 10 years of senior executive leadership experience with responsibility for strategic planning, financial performance, and enterprise-level business decisions.
Demonstrated success developing corporate strategies, identifying growth opportunities, and leading complex business initiatives.
Strong financial management experience, including capital allocation, financial modeling, investment evaluation, revenue forecasting, and profitability analysis.
Experience evaluating mergers and acquisitions, strategic partnerships, business expansion opportunities, and major corporate investments.
A solid understanding of technology-driven business models, commercial strategy, competitive positioning, and organizational growth.
Ability to assess complex financial information, market developments, and business risks to support executive-level decisions.
Experience working directly with CEOs, CFOs, boards of directors, financial institutions, and senior business stakeholders.
Proven ability to translate long-term strategic objectives into practical operating plans and measurable business results.
Strong executive communication, negotiation, analytical judgment, and organizational leadership skills.
Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and managing competing priorities in a changing business environment.
Ability to provide effective executive leadership and coordinate distributed teams in a remote working environment.
A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Management, or a related discipline is required. An MBA or other relevant advanced degree is strongly preferred.
Ideal Candidate
You've spent much of your career making decisions that influence the direction of a business. You understand that corporate strategy is not simply about identifying opportunities. It's about determining which opportunities create value, what resources they require, and whether the organization can execute successfully.
You bring a strong financial foundation and can evaluate investments, operating performance, and long-term business opportunities with the same confidence you bring to market strategy and organizational leadership.
You know how to work with a CEO and executive team as a trusted business partner. You're comfortable offering a different perspective, challenging assumptions, and helping leadership make difficult decisions when the available information is incomplete.
You understand how to balance ambition with financial discipline. You can recognize when aggressive investment is justified and when protecting capital, improving execution, or strengthening existing operations should take priority.
You have experience leading major strategic initiatives and know how to establish accountability without creating unnecessary organizational complexity.
Most importantly, you understand that successful strategy requires both clear thinking and effective execution. You can define a direction, build alignment among senior leaders, and help the organization deliver results that support long-term enterprise value.
For an experienced executive with a background in corporate strategy, financial management, and business development, this position offers an opportunity to influence major decisions and contribute to the long-term direction of YoshiTech.
