Role Description
We are seeking a Backend Developer – Python / FastAPI to join our remote development team.
The developer will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining server-side applications and APIs using Python and FastAPI. This is a full-time remote position. The developer will work closely with other backend and frontend developers to implement new functionality, maintain existing services, integrate databases and third-party services, troubleshoot technical issues, and improve system reliability and performance.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain backend services using Python and FastAPI.
Design and implement RESTful APIs.
Work with relational databases and backend data models.
Create and maintain database migrations.
Write clean, reusable, and maintainable code.
Implement authentication and authorization functionality.
Integrate third-party APIs and services.
Write unit and integration tests.
Troubleshoot backend and API issues.
Optimize application performance and database queries.
Participate in code reviews.
Use Git and GitHub for collaborative development.
Create and maintain technical and API documentation.
Collaborate with frontend developers on API integration.
Participate in sprint planning and technical discussions.
Assist with deployments, maintenance, and production troubleshooting when required.
Follow established development standards, architecture, and security practices.
Qualifications
Strong Python programming skills.
Experience developing backend applications and APIs.
Experience with FastAPI or a similar Python web framework.
Experience with REST API design and development.
Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases.
Understanding of SQL, data modeling, and query optimization.
Familiarity with SQLAlchemy or similar ORM technologies.
Understanding of Object-Oriented Programming and software design principles.
Experience with Git and GitHub.
Experience with testing and debugging backend applications.
Understanding of authentication, authorization, and backend security practices.
Ability to write organized, maintainable, and documented code.
Ability to work effectively in a remote development environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
