We are a small, fast-moving team building meaningful technology for real human learning outcomes, and AI is a core part of how we are shaping the next phase of the product.
The Role
We are looking for a Backend Developer who can own the systems that power our app and dashboards. You will work closely with our AI developer to bring AI workflows into production and enhance real-world user experiences.
What You'll Do
Build and maintain backend services and APIs in Node.js and TypeScript.
Design, build, and optimise complex MongoDB aggregation pipelines.
Partner with the AI developer to take AI workflows from prototype to production.
Improve system reliability, monitoring, and response times across our services.
Debug production issues, identify bottlenecks, and ship fixes quickly.
What We're Looking For
2 to 3 years of hands-on backend development experience with strong Node.js and TypeScript skills.
Solid experience with MongoDB, including schema design and query optimisation.
Good understanding of REST API design, authentication, and security best practices.
Sharp judgement on which AI tool to use for which purpose. You actively adapt AI tools (Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT, Copilot, and others) to ship work faster and better.
Ownership mindset, you take a problem from "reported" to "fixed and verified".
Nice to Have
Background in EdTech, SaaS, or consumer apps with high traffic.
Familiarity with WebSockets or real-time systems.
