About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
Ready to power the future of sustainable energy? As an Automation Software Engineer on our team, you'll develop the software that brings Distributed Control Systems (DCS) to life for Energy from Waste (EfW) and Renewable Gas (RG) plants. You'll work on projects from engineering and testing through to commissioning, both on site and remotely. Along the way, you'll build your expertise alongside experienced colleagues and help improve the way we work.
Your responsibilities
Develop smart control software: Work on the engineering and delivery of DCS projects for EfW and RG plants. You'll develop DCS software applications for EfW plants and PLC software for RG plants and package units.
Build secure, connected systems: Configure managed switches, routers, DMZ routers and firewalls, and set up industrial PCs. You'll also help design and coordinate the IT/OT interface for our EfW plants.
Test, commission and deliver: Carry out Factory Acceptance Testing of DCS hardware and software, including Safety Instrumented Systems. Commission systems on site and remotely, with around 10% travel.
Bring your technical know-how: Review technical specifications and RfQ documents to make sure they meet codes and client requirements. You'll take part in design reviews with customers and support our tendering and commissioning teams.
Grow with us and improve our standards: Help develop and improve our DCS template library, including HMI faceplates and typicals. Share your knowledge with colleagues on DCS topics and contribute to lessons learned and better work processes.
A solid technical foundation: You have a background in automation, control systems or electrical engineering. Any first experience with Siemens PCS 7, DCS or industrial automation is a plus, but it isn't required.
Eager to learn and grow: You're keen to learn PCS 7 engineering and build practical commissioning skills through on-the-job training. You want a long-term career in industrial automation and commissioning.
Hands-on problem solver: You have good problem-solving skills and a practical approach. You enjoy learning from real commissioning experience on site.
Ready to explore the world: You're flexible and happy to support projects in different locations and working environments. You're open to international travel for project and commissioning work, for up to about 6 months a year.
Team player who communicates well: You work well alongside experienced engineers and take on more responsibility step by step. You communicate confidently in English, both written and spoken.
