About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) to lead accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and financial compliance.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive financial leadership experience, strong accounting expertise, and a proven ability to establish effective financial management systems, oversee accounting teams, and support long-term organizational growth.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement accounting strategies, policies, and financial reporting procedures.
Oversee daily accounting operations, financial statements, and general ledger management.
Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and applicable financial reporting requirements.
Establish and maintain effective internal controls and accounting management systems.
Lead financial audits, regulatory reporting, and compliance initiatives.
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes.
Collaborate with executive leadership, finance, operations, and legal teams.
Identify financial reporting risks and implement appropriate corrective measures.
Improve accounting efficiency through process optimization and financial technology solutions.
Support financial planning, budgeting, and organizational growth initiatives.
Recruit, mentor, and lead accounting and financial reporting teams.
Provide financial reports, accounting insights, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
Background and Experience
At least 15 years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, auditing, or financial management.
Previous senior leadership experience as a Chief Accounting Officer, Corporate Controller, Vice President of Accounting, or comparable executive.
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting regulations.
Proven experience overseeing complex accounting operations and managing financial audits.
Experience developing accounting policies, financial reporting systems, and internal control frameworks.
Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and executive leadership skills.
Ability to manage geographically distributed accounting teams in a remote environment.
Experience within technology, financial services, startups, or growth-stage organizations is preferred.
A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
CPA strongly preferred; MBA or relevant advanced degree is a plus.
