Role Description: The Cloud Engineer role is a full-time, on-site position based abroad. The Cloud Engineer will design, implement, and maintain cloud-based infrastructure to support internal applications, tools, and business systems for the consultancy. Daily responsibilities include configuring and managing cloud environments, setting up secure networks, monitoring system performance, and optimising resource usage and costs. The role involves collaborating with software developers and operations teams to deploy applications, automate workflows, and ensure high availability, reliability, and security of services. The cloud engineer will also troubleshoot infrastructure issues, maintain documentation, and contribute to improvements in scalability, backup, and disaster recovery practices.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong cloud computing and infrastructure skills, including experience with major cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), networking, storage, and security configurations.
Candidates should possess solid software development skills for automation, scripting, and integration (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar), along with familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
Candidates should possess practical Linux skills, including system administration, shell scripting, performance tuning, and troubleshooting in production environments.
Candidates should possess database skills, including experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, data backup strategies, performance optimisation, and secure access management.
Relevant bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Understanding of containerisation and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is beneficial.
Experience with monitoring, logging, and incident management tools, and a strong focus on security best practices and compliance.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, communicate technical concepts clearly, and document infrastructure and processes effectively.
