About the Opportunity
Wellways, in partnership with APMHA Healthcare and GV Health, is working together across Greater Shepparton, Strathbogie, and Moira to strengthen mental health and wellbeing support across the region. Together, we're aiming to offer services that meet the unique needs of individuals in our community, whenever and wherever they are needed. Lived experience, inclusivity, and genuine collaboration are at the heart of everything we do.
As an AOD Wellbeing Navigator Peer, you’ll draw on your own lived experience of substance use or addiction, recovery, service use and personal growth to build mutual and respectful relationships with participants. You’ll provide intentional AOD peer support and help people connect with the services, supports and community connections that matter to them. You’ll use your lived experience thoughtfully and purposefully to create opportunities for shared learning, hope and recovery, while supporting people to recognise their own strengths, choices and possibilities.
This is a unique opportunity that exists with the goal of making sure everyone in our community is supported, included, and empowered.
Key elements of your new role will include:
Provide intentional, strengths-based peer support, including AOD peer support
Offer one-on-one support and care planning
Facilitate group peer sessions to build connection and confidence
Supporting people to recognise and build on their own strengths, knowledge and capacity
Supporting engagement and self-advocacy with clinical services
Building strong relationships with local AOD and other community support services

You share your story in a safe, respectful, and empowering way; helping others to feel seen, heard, and understood. You instil hope and support people in building connections and reinforce the strengths they already bring to their own recovery journey.
If your lived experience is at the heart of how you connect with and support others in our community, we’d love to get to know you!
To be successful in this role, you will need:
