About The Role
Quant Capital is seeking a talented and motivated Java Developer to join a rapidly growing financial technology company based near Heathrow, London. This opportunity is ideal for a developer with approximately five years of commercial Java development experience who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges and building software that delivers measurable business value.
As a Java Developer, you will play an important role in designing, developing, testing, and improving technology products that support financial services operations. You will contribute to the architecture and implementation of new features, develop reliable backend services, and collaborate with other engineers and business stakeholders to translate requirements into high-quality software.

Key Responsibilities
Software Development: Design, develop, maintain, and enhance enterprise-grade applications using Core Java and established software engineering principles.
Application Architecture: Contribute to technical design decisions, application architecture, and the development of scalable, maintainable software components.
Backend Services: Build and maintain RESTful APIs and services that support business functionality and integrate with internal and external systems.
Spring Development: Use Spring technologies to develop robust backend applications, implement business logic, and support efficient service integration.
Concurrent Programming: Apply multithreading and concurrency techniques to develop responsive, efficient, and reliable applications.
Financial Technology Solutions: Work on software products supporting middle- and back-office financial operations, helping improve business workflows and operational efficiency.
Database Development: Design and optimize database interactions, write efficient queries, and work with relational databases to maintain data consistency and performance.
Search and Data Processing: Develop or integrate search capabilities using technologies such as Elasticsearch and contribute to efficient data-processing workflows.
Testing and Quality Assurance: Write automated unit and integration tests, identify defects, and ensure that applications meet functional and non-functional requirements.
Continuous Integration: Support automated build, testing, and deployment pipelines using appropriate development and CI/CD tools.
Agile Collaboration: Participate in sprint planning, technical discussions, code reviews, and team meetings to deliver software iteratively.
Technology Innovation: Research, prototype, and evaluate emerging technologies and development approaches that could improve the platform's capabilities.
Production Support: Investigate technical issues, troubleshoot application performance, and contribute to the reliability and stability of deployed systems.
Engineering Best Practices: Promote clean code, reusable components, technical documentation, and continuous improvement across the development team.
Required Qualifications And Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Approximately five years of professional Java development experience in a commercial software engineering environment.
Strong understanding of Core Java, object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
Practical experience with the Spring framework and enterprise application development.
Knowledge of multithreading, concurrency, and performance optimization.
Experience building and maintaining RESTful services and API integrations.
Experience working with relational databases and writing efficient SQL queries.
Familiarity with search technologies, preferably Elasticsearch.
Experience using Maven or Gradle for dependency management and build automation.
Knowledge of version control systems such as Git.
Experience with automated testing, continuous integration, and modern software delivery practices.
Understanding of Agile methodologies and test-driven development.
Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
