Job in a Nutshell:
Engineer and optimize microbial strains using molecular biology, genome editing, strain improvement, and data-driven approaches to develop high-performing and stable production strains.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and execute experiments for strain screening, media engineering, and process optimization.
Perform strain improvement through classical approaches such as mutation, selection, and adaptation.
Conduct gene cloning, expression studies, and pathway optimization in microbial hosts such as E. coli, yeast, and Actinomycetes.
Apply molecular and genome-editing techniques, including CRISPR/Cas, recombineering, and mutagenesis.
Screen and characterize mutants for improved productivity and stability.
Perform PCR, RT-PCR, sequencing, and other molecular biology analyses.
Prepare samples for omics studies and support analysis and interpretation of the resulting data.
Develop computational understanding using relevant bioinformatics/computational software and tools.
Maintain plasmid libraries, strain banks, culture collections, and genetic documentation.
Monitor and ensure long-term strain stability and culture integrity.
Document experimental results and maintain laboratory records in accordance with applicable quality and compliance requirements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (CFTs) to ensure timely execution of projects.
Prepare and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Equipment Operating Procedures (EOPs), and quality records.
Minimum Requirements :
Masters Degree (MSc, MTech) in Bioprocess Engineering, Biotechnology with a ninimum of 2-3 Years of industrial experience
