Data Analyst

Bowhead is seeking a Data Analyst (CORPIT) to support data warehousing, analysis, system development, training, and customer service in Dahlgren, Virginia. This position is suited to a detail-oriented professional who can work with relational databases, develop useful reports, and help customers resolve data-related challenges.

About The Role
As a Data Analyst, you will contribute to the design, validation, and documentation of data structures and tables, while helping ensure that information is accurate, accessible, and useful to stakeholders. You will develop specifications for online queries and reports, database loading, and data validation. The position also involves investigating issues, analyzing products and processes, and resolving problems through careful research and sound judgment.
You will communicate with customers and colleagues to gather requirements, explain findings, provide training, and support the effective use of data tools. Success in this role requires the ability to balance independent analysis with active collaboration across a team. The position requires a current Secret security clearance, and U.S. citizenship is required for Secret clearance at this location.
Qualifications
A high school diploma is required; a bachelor’s degree is highly desired. Candidates must have at least five years of relevant experience and strong analytical skills related to relational database management systems and data warehousing. Experience using the Cognos Tool Suite to generate dashboards and reports, along with the ability to write and analyze SQL queries, is important.
Additional qualifications include mathematical reasoning skills; excellent written and verbal communication; and the interpersonal skills and judgment needed to support clients, gather requirements, and validate information. Candidates should be effective problem-solvers with strong attention to detail and be able to work independently or collaboratively. Experience with security assessment tools such as Nessus, and with implementing and testing security controls, is also required. Knowledge of analytical tools and evaluation techniques is desired. Knowledge of government accounting, particularly Department of Defense accounting, is highly desired.
The role involves physical activity, including lifting up to 15–25 pounds, standing and walking for prolonged periods, and periodically twisting, bending, and squatting.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain data structures and tables, validate data, and prepare clear supporting documentation. Create specifications for online queries, reports, database loads, and data validation processes. Use SQL and Cognos tools to analyze information and produce dashboards and reports that support customer needs. Investigate data and system issues, conduct product analysis, identify potential causes, and help resolve problems. Gather and clarify customer requirements, communicate results, provide training, and deliver responsive support. Collaborate with team members to support data warehousing and system development while applying sound judgment and maintaining attention to accuracy and security.
Benefits
The targeted annual salary range is $80,000–$90,000, based on qualifications and experience. This range is a general guideline, not a guarantee of an offer.
