Sommelier- FTCJob Summary
We are seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Sommelier to oversee our wine program and provide exceptional wine service to guests. The Sommelier will be responsible for curating and maintaining the wine list, recommending wine pairings, managing inventory, and educating both guests and staff on wine selections. The ideal candidate possesses extensive wine knowledge, excellent customer service skills, and a commitment to delivering memorable dining experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Curate and maintain an appealing wine list that complements the food menu and brand standards.
Recommend wines to guests based on their preferences, menu selections, and budget.
Provide expert wine pairing suggestions to enhance the dining experience.
Manage wine inventory, including ordering, receiving, storage, and stock rotation.
Build and maintain relationships with wineries, distributors, and suppliers.
Monitor wine sales and analyze trends to optimize inventory and profitability.
Ensure proper wine storage conditions and quality standards.
Conduct regular staff training sessions on wine knowledge, service standards, and food pairings.
Assist in planning and executing wine tastings, special events, and promotional activities.
Maintain compliance with all local alcohol service laws and company policies.
Deliver exceptional customer service and promptly address guest inquiries or concerns.
Required Qualifications
Certification in Wine Studies, Sommelier Certification, or equivalent preferred (WSET, Court of Master Sommeliers, etc.).
Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a Sommelier or in a wine-focused hospitality role.
Strong knowledge of wine regions, varietals, vintages, and food pairings.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and inventory management abilities.
Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Proficiency in POS systems and inventory management tools is an advantage.
Preferred Skills
Advanced wine tasting and evaluation skills.
Sales-oriented mindset with the ability to drive beverage revenue.
Strong presentation and training capabilities.
Attention to detail and commitment to high service standards.
Knowledge of spirits, cocktails, and other beverages is a plus.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
