HR Manager

A leading European manufacturer is setting up an India shared-services centre, and the HR pillar of that centre is being built from the ground up over the next two quarters. Flexiple is a managed marketplace that helps global companies build high-performing teams and GCCs in India, and this manufacturer has engaged Flexiple to hire the HR Manager who will lead that build.
The remit
This is not a caretaker role. You will design the HR operating model for a plant-adjacent, shared-services population that will grow from around eighty to over two hundred and fifty people, spanning finance, engineering support and customer service functions housed in the same centre.

Onboarding and induction that works for both office staff and shift-based plant liaisons
A performance and rewards framework aligned to the parent company's global structure but adapted for Indian market benchmarks
HR service delivery processes, covering query management, documentation and letters, that can scale without adding headcount linearly
How the work actually happens
Expect a lot of ambiguity in month one: policies will need to be written, not just administered, and you will be the one drafting the leave policy, the travel policy and the exit process from close to nothing. You will work directly with the global HR director in Europe on anything that needs headquarters sign-off, and with local labour law counsel on anything that does not.
Who fits this
You will have six to nine years of HR generalist experience, including at least one stint where you built a function rather than inherited one. Manufacturing, shared-services or GCC background is preferred, and comfort with English and Hindi is expected given the plant-adjacent stakeholder group, with additional regional language ability a bonus.
Where you will sit
This role is based in Pune or Chennai, given proximity to the manufacturing footprint, with Remote (India) workable for a candidate willing to travel to site every few weeks.
Getting there
The process runs through an initial HR conversation, a task where you sketch out a real policy, a round with the plant and functional stakeholders, and a final conversation on fit.
