A global consumer brand is building out its India brand protection and legal function, and has partnered with Flexiple to hire a Trademark Specialist. Flexiple is a managed marketplace that places specialist talent inside global companies' India teams.
This brand sells across several product categories in India and abroad, and its portfolio of marks, packaging designs, and taglines has grown faster than the systems tracking them. The person hired into this role will bring order to that portfolio and become the first line of defence when a new product name needs clearing.
The mark portfolio you would manage
Run clearance searches before new product, sub-brand, or campaign names go to market, and flag conflicts early
Prepare and file trademark applications in India and, where relevant, through the Madrid Protocol for priority markets
Track renewal deadlines, oppositions, and examination reports across the full portfolio and keep the internal register current
Draft responses to examination reports and oppositions, working with external counsel on contested matters
Support the brand and marketing teams on how new packaging, taglines, and campaign assets interact with existing registrations
Monitor for infringing use and coordinate takedown or cease-and-desist steps with outside counsel
What this role needs from day one
3 to 7 years of experience in trademark prosecution and portfolio management, in-house or at a law firm with a strong trademark practice
An LLB, with working knowledge of the Trademarks Act and Indian IP Office procedure
Comfort managing a large, multi-category portfolio and prioritising across it without losing track of deadlines
Clear written English for correspondence with examiners, opposing counsel, and internal stakeholders
Also useful to have
Exposure to international filings through the Madrid Protocol or direct national filings
Experience working directly with marketing or brand teams on naming and packaging clearance
Familiarity with domain name disputes and online brand enforcement
Location: Mumbai, Gurugram — hybrid, based alongside the brand and legal team
