Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and innovative Packaging Design Engineer with 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in industrial packaging design. The ideal candidate should have hands-on expertise in designing corrugated/cardboard packaging solutions and wooden pallets/crates for industrial products. The candidate will be responsible for developing cost-effective, safe, and robust packaging solutions while ensuring compliance with customer and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop packaging solutions for manufactured products, including:
Corrugated cardboard boxes
Wooden pallets
Wooden crates and export packaging
Protective packaging components
Slickers & handling design
Perform packaging design calculations and validation to ensure product protection during handling, transportation, and storage.
Develop 3D models, detailed drawings, and manufacturing documents using Unigraphics (UG/NX).
Coordinate with manufacturing, sourcing, logistics, suppliers, and quality teams for packaging development and implementation.
Conduct packaging optimization activities for cost reduction and material efficiency.
Prepare packaging specifications, BOMs, assembly instructions, and design documentation.
Support packaging testing activities and analyze test results.
Ensure packaging solutions comply with applicable customer and international standards.
Participate in design reviews and customer discussions related to packaging solutions.
Manage engineering data and document revisions through PLM systems.
Required Technical Skills
Mandatory
Proficiency in Unigraphics (UG NX) for 3D modeling and design.
Experience in Packaging Design Engineering.
Strong knowledge of:
Corrugated/Cardboard Box Design
Wooden Pallet Design
Industrial Packaging Solutions
Packaging material selection
Preferred
Experience with Teamcenter PLM.
Knowledge of ASTM standards related to packaging and testing.
Exposure to export packaging requirements and logistics considerations.
Understanding of packaging validation and testing methodologies.
