AI Lead

We are looking for a highly skilled AI Lead to drive AI-led transformation initiatives across the Life Insurance business. This is a techno-functional leadership role requiring deep expertise in Machine Learning, Data Science, and AI solution delivery, combined with a strong understanding of insurance processes. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of building and scaling AI products, leading cross-functional teams, and delivering measurable business impact across underwriting, claims, fraud detection, risk analytics, customer engagement, and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Lead the design, development, and deployment of AI/ML solutions for Life Insurance use cases, including underwriting, claims automation, fraud detection, persistency, and customer analytics.
Own end-to-end delivery of multiple AI initiatives or large-scale enterprise AI programs.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to Data Scientists, ML Engineers, and Analytics teams.
Partner with business stakeholders to identify high-impact AI opportunities and translate them into scalable solutions.
Drive solution architecture, model development, feature engineering, experimentation, and optimization.
Establish best practices for model governance, validation, deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
Collaborate closely with underwriting, claims, actuarial, risk, operations, and distribution teams.
Evaluate and implement emerging technologies in generative AI, Agentic AI, and Intelligent Automation.
Drive AI adoption and create measurable business outcomes through data-driven decision-making.
Requirements:
8-12 years of experience in Data Science, AI, or Machine Learning.
At least 2-4 years of experience leading AI teams or enterprise AI initiatives.
Proven track record of delivering AI solutions in BFSI, preferably Life Insurance.
Strong blend of technical depth, business understanding, and leadership capability.
Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and drive AI adoption across business functions.
AI / Machine Learning:
Strong hands-on expertise in Machine Learning, Statistical Modelling, and Data Science.
Experience building and deploying production-grade ML solutions at scale.
Deep understanding of: Supervised and Unsupervised Learning, Classification, Regression, Clustering, Time Series Forecasting, Recommendation Systems, NLP and Predictive Analytics.
Strong knowledge of feature engineering, model evaluation, explainability, and performance optimization.
Technical Skills:
Expert proficiency in Python and PySpark.
Hands-on experience with ML frameworks such as Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch.
Experience building end-to-end ML pipelines and MLOps workflows.
Familiarity with large-scale data platforms and distributed computing environments.
Experience with SQL and modern data engineering ecosystems.
BFSI / Life Insurance Domain:
Strong understanding of Life Insurance business processes: Underwriting, Claims Management, Policy Servicing, Risk Assessment, Customer Retention and Persistency.
Experience building solutions for: Fraud Detection, Customer Segmentation, Churn Prediction, Pricing and Risk Analytics.
Understanding of regulatory, governance, and compliance requirements within Insurance and BFSI.
Preferred Background:
Hands-on experience with Generative AI, LLMs, Prompt Engineering, RAG, Fine-Tuning, and AI Copilots.
Exposure to agentic AI frameworks, autonomous workflows, and multi-agent systems.
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Strong stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.
Experience leading teams and influencing business and technology strategy.
